The Centre for Gippsland Studies specialises in Gippsland's:

- Environment and natural resources
The CGS houses an extensive collection of books, documents, photographs, and maps related to Gippsland. It is committed to high-quality research, undertakes consultancies and contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The Centre liaises with the community, offering history conferences, advice on collections management and assistance with research and writing.
The Centre is open to Monash researchers and the general public from Monday to Thursday by appointment.
