Beyond Deportation: Researching the Control of Outward Mobility Using a Space of Flows Logic

BOb’s Associate Professor Leanne Weber along with international colleagues, Sigmund Mohn, Francesco Vecchio and Andriani Fili have recently published an article in Global Networks. The article explores deportation practices across selected countries in the European Union, namely Norway, Sweden, Italy and Greece. Their work goes beyond the concept of deportation to identify ‘mobility control continuums’ used by governments to try to control the flow of people across their borders, and contributes to the methodologies associated with border criminology research.

The article is the result of a longstanding collaboration between Border Crossing Observatory and Border Criminologies scholar, and is testimony to the value of cross-border partnerships in the study of border control.  You can find out more about the project from the Blog piece published on the BorderCrim website.
