2018 Theme: Future Tense
Creative Directions is a festival of ideas and industry know-how exploring critical issues shaping the nature of work in the contemporary media, cultural and communications industries.
Social media, automation, algorithms, big data and bespoke manufacturing are completely transforming how we work, make, live and communicate with each other.
From hashtag activism to data journalism, VR to PR, Creative Directions 2018 will examine what’s making us tense about the future of work in the media, communications and cultural industries. How will changing geo-political dynamics in the Asia-Pacific region shake up our media industries? What might a socially responsible start up look like? How do you use analytics and big data in transparent and accountable ways? And what skills and knowledge do early career professionals need – ethically and practically – to navigate this rapidly changing media landscape?
Thursday 4 October – Friday 5 October
