Fansubbing Workshop

In this masterclass and workshop, students will be introduced to in-production web series Distancia, hear about the origins and contemporary relevance of fan subtitling (fansubbing), learn about the specific constraints and conventions of subtitling, and be guided through hands-on fansubbing exercises using the open-source application Aegisub. By the end of the class, students will have prepared subtitles in a variety of languages for the first episode of Distancia. The workshop brings together experts from MADA, the School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics, and the School of Media, Film and Journalism.
