About the project

The Gender and Family Violence team of researchers have been contracted by Family Safety Victoria to conduct an independent Review of the new family violence Information Sharing Scheme, due to commence in early 2018. The scheme is part of the broader reforms recommended by the Royal Commission. The Review will consider any adverse impacts or unintended consequences of the scheme, as well as make recommendations to improve its operation. The findings of the Review will be tabled in Parliament and likely impact on family violence information sharing practice, policy and legislation.

Previous stages of the Review:

Initial Tranche workforces

The first stage of the Review was to gather data on information sharing attitudes and practices of Initial Tranche workforces prior to the implementation of the scheme.

The second stage of the Review was to gather data on the implementation of the scheme for Initial Tranche workforces.

Workforce focus groups We conducted a number of focus groups in April and May 2018 to capture Initial Tranche service providers’ experiences of how the scheme is being implemented and operating. These focus groups have closed.

These first and second stages of the Review have been completed.
