About the project
The Gender and Family Violence team of researchers have been contracted by Family Safety Victoria to conduct an independent Review of the new family violence Information Sharing Scheme, due to commence in early 2018. The scheme is part of the broader reforms recommended by the Royal Commission. The Review will consider any adverse impacts or unintended consequences of the scheme, as well as make recommendations to improve its operation. The findings of the Review will be tabled in Parliament and likely impact on family violence information sharing practice, policy and legislation.
Previous stages of the Review:
Initial Tranche workforces
The first stage of the Review was to gather data on information sharing attitudes and practices of Initial Tranche workforces prior to the implementation of the scheme.
Manager interviews We conducted manager interviews in early 2018, seeking input on current information sharing practices, current barriers and enablers and the processes of implementation of the ISS at an organisational level for Initial Tranche workforces. These interviews have closed.
Survey We conducted a survey to capture Initial Tranche workers’ current attitudes and practises (formal and informal) in relation to information sharing prior to the implementation of the scheme. The survey closed at 5pm, 23 February 2018.
The second stage of the Review was to gather data on the implementation of the scheme for Initial Tranche workforces.
Workforce focus groups We conducted a number of focus groups in April and May 2018 to capture Initial Tranche service providers’ experiences of how the scheme is being implemented and operating. These focus groups have closed.
These first and second stages of the Review have been completed.
Phase One workforces
Survey We conducted a survey to capture Phase One workers’ current attitudes and practises (formal and informal) in relation to information sharing prior to the implementation of the scheme. The survey closed at 5pm, 26 October 2018.
