Three Monash Arts graduate research scholarships currently on offer

Monash Arts is pleased to be offering three graduate research scholarships.

The Cecile Parrish Memorial Scholarship for Research Excellence comprises of three-year fixed-term appointment within the Literary and Cultural Studies Graduate Research Program.

The successful candidate will have a background the discipline of English literary studies, and be of outstanding merit. The scholarship will enable a PhD or Masters scholar to pursue a full-time program of research.

The 2018 Monash PhD Position in Human Geography is a three-year fixed-term appointment within the Social and Political Sciences Graduate Research Program.

The successful candidate will have access to datasets on diaspora engagement formed as part of the Oxford Diasporas Programme, a five-year research initiative involving some 40 researchers at the University of Oxford from 2011 to 2016.

They will also have access to an international network of collaborators at leading institutions in the USA, UK, Europe and elsewhere who are working on the impacts of diaspora engagement.

The candidate will also have access to interdisciplinary migration and population research support at Monash, including through the growing network of programs, centres and other initiatives on this theme across the University, with their extensive links to policy, practitioner and industry groups in Australia and beyond.

The 2018 Monash PhD Position in Human Geography – Data Viz is also a three-year fixed-term appointment within the Social and Political Sciences Graduate Research Program.

Over the course of a three-year doctoral project, this research will involve defining new measures of social diversity in selected cities, collating corresponding statistical data, and analysing this data using geospatial analysis and data visualisation techniques.

There is wide scope for an outstanding candidate to carve out their own project and develop a new field of interdisciplinary study, cooperating closely with world-leading experts in several fields, and accessing cutting edge resources.
