French Studies

The following recommendations are for French Studies and Global Cultural Literacies. All units for this Major must obtain approval from the language department to receive credit.

Exchange

To apply for exchange in France, students require a minimum WAM of 60 (please refer to Monash Abroad eligibility here). Due to host university eligibility criteria and limited spots, certain universities may require higher WAMs’

Jean Moulin University, Lyon III – France

  • Semester 1 or 2 | 18 – 24 points (Check offerings with Monash Abroad - may not open every year)
  • According to their language proficiency, students may study the DEUF program (French) or the SELF program (English).
  • Lyon offers a very high quality of life but with significantly lower living costs that Paris and other larger cities
  • Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship available

New Sorbonne University, Paris III – France

ISIT in Paris

  • Semester 1 or 2 | 18 – 24 points
  • Specialist translation, languages and interpretation institution
  • Undergraduate units are taught in French and English (units relating to translation and interpretation of other languages also available)
  • Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship available

Sciences Po, Paris – France

  • Semester 1 or 2 | 18 – 24 points
  • Places are extremely limited. Those with very high WAMs encouraged to apply.
  • Students must have 96 Monash credit points achieved by the Monash Abroad deadline.
  • Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship available

Sciences Po, Reims – France

  • Semester 1 or 2 | 18 – 24 points
  • Places are extremely limited. Those with very high WAMs encouraged to apply only.

Le Cavilam Intensive Language School – France

  • Summer or Winter | 6 – 12 points
  • Student may apply directly to CAVILAM
    • 110 hours of study (6 – 7 weeks) is approved as 6 Monash credit points
  • A program package is also offered by AIM Overseas
    • Program may only be approved as an Arts Elective due to lower contact hours
  • All program and tuition fees paid to CAVILAM or AIM Overseas
  • Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship available

Sciences Po Summer School – France

  • Winter | 6 points
    • 110 hours of study (6 – 7 weeks) is approved as 6 Monash credit points
  • Paris is ranked the the best student city in the world (QS Best Student Cities 2016)
