German conductor and composer Jobst Liebrecht has been invited by the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music to present his second composition residency program. This follows his successful first residency in 2015. Jobst will be developing new works with the School's undergraduate composers during the the first half of Semester 2, 2017.
Liebrecht studied in Munich with Peter Eötvös and has conducted the Rundfunksinfonieorchester Berlin, the Duisburger Philharmoniker, the Sinfonietta Leipzig, and the Münchner Kammerorchester. He has also performed at the opera houses of Hamburg, Halle and Gießen. His interest in contemporary classical music has led to collaborations with Ensemble Modern, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Resonanz, Ensemble Mosaik and Ensemble United Berlin. As composer he has created a broad output including chamber works, vocal works, and orchestral works. For several years he was assistant and collaborator of the late Hans Werner Henze.
