On September 4, 2018, 16-18:00, Monash University Korean Studies held the first ‘After Graduation: Prospects for Students Graduating with Asia-related Degrees’ event. The aim of the event was to provide careers and further study guidance for students preparing to graduate from Monash with Asian Studies related degrees. Four representatives of Monash MA and post-BA courses spoke about further study beyond the undergraduate degree:
Dr Jonathan Benney: ‘The Point of Honours Degrees,’
Dr Marc Orlando MITS: ‘Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies,'
Dr Howie Manns: ‘MA of Applied Linguistics (MAppLing),'
Dr Jeff Jarvis: ‘Masters Degrees in Tourism Management.'
In addition, Briony Stocker, Graduate Development Manager of the Monash MBA gave a short talk about how to get ahead in your career search. Star of the show and former Monash Law and Japanese Studies student was Sarah Holloway, entrepreneur and founder of Matcha Maiden spoke about starting up in business. Over 38 staff and students were in attendance and there are plans to organize a similar event in 2019.
