International Studies Student to represent Monash at the United Nations Climate Negotiations (COP21) in Paris

anna-zhangAnna Zhang is in her final year of her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in International Studies and French. Inspired by her degree, she is passionately involved with social justice movements ranging from poverty eradication, sports for development and peace, to championing sustainability.

The interconnectedness of social justice issues has seen Anna play ambassadorial roles in a variety of contexts, including representing Monash and the AFL at the Pacific Youth and Sport Conference in New Caledonia in 2013.

In 2015, she will be actively engaging with issues around climate change in the lead up to the United Nations Climate Negotiations to take place in Paris (COP21), where she will be in attendance.

Climate change disproportionately affects the most vulnerable in society; therefore, the need for climate action has never been more urgent. Anna hopes that COP21 will establish a binding international agreement that is ambitious, yet sustainable, effective, and yet accountable.

Upon her return, she hopes to continue building on her global CV, by completing her honours year in International Studies at Monash in 2016.
