Monash Arts is pleased to announce that Film and Screen Studies Lecturer Billy Head has received the coveted Silver Dolphin Award at the 2018 Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in France.
The international award recognised Billy’s direction for a micro documentary film made for Australian health insurer, Medibank.
Billy, and project producer Philippa Campey, received the award in the Internal Communication category, with the video helping to raise awareness of Medibank’s new Palliative Care at Home program.
The film was commissioned by the Medibank Member Health Services team to help promote internal staff awareness of the non-financial services available to Medibank’s members.
Billy used the film as a platform to show staff and stakeholders how the company extends beyond insurance services, and the real-world positive effects that the company's work has on their members’ lives.
The film focusses on the challenging topic of terminal illness to tell a story of love through the eyes of those who support their beloved family member through their final stages.
Billy said it was a sad story to tell in just a couple of minutes, but “it is also a story that celebrates family and reminds us to cherish those we love.”
The Palliative Care at Home film and three other films from the same series also created by Billy and Philippa have been on high rotation on display screens at Medibank’s numerous buildings and offices around Australia and also screened at various internal events. The video also appears on a post in the Medibank Newsroom website.
The Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards honour the world’s finest corporate films, online media productions and documentaries in one of the world’s most important film centres of Cannes, France.
