As part of the CTP Research Seminar Series, the last seminar for the 2017 series is on today
In line with the renewed push to make Monash a centre for the development of new musical theatre in Australia, and the growing body of research into the form at the University, we have formed the MTRG.
The group consists of a number of postgraduate, professional, and independent researchers asking diverse questions of the structure, politics, culture, and experience of musical theatre.
The general aims of the group are to:
•provide an ongoing forum for Monash staff/students/others
engaged in the study of musical theatre;
•establish Monash as a national centre for research into musical
•stage events such as conferences/symposia/workshops/other
•publish research in the field;
•contribute to the cultural life of the Ian Potter Centre for Performing
Arts/Clayton Campus cultural hub;
•encourage and promote research into musical theatre in Australia;
•facilitate engagement between creators of musical theatre and
researchers into the form.
During today's seminar, members of the MTRG will present on their individual projects and the general direction and purpose of the group as a new research initiative of the Centre.
