Verge: Chimera – to be launched at 2017 Melbourne Writers Festival

The thirteenth edition of Verge, Monash University’s creative writing annual, will be launched as part of the 2017 Melbourne Writers Festival.

Verge is an annual creative writing collection of short stories, poetry and personal essays, and the 2017 edition will be launched by Monash PhD alumnus and 2016 Vogel winner, Kate Brabon.

This year’s focus is on the theme ‘Chimera' – something desired but always out of reach. Chimera is the faceless figures of dreams, the disappearing fountain of an unrelenting desert, and for those willing to make the journey, chimera exists as hope unrealised.

There will also be readings at the launch from emerging and established contributors to Verge: Chimera –  Killian Donohoe, Chloe Riley, Callum Methven, Jack Kelly and Natalie Briggs.

Verge 2017: Chimera is edited by Bonnie Reid, Aisling Smith and Gavin Yates, and is published by Monash University Publishing.
