I am pleased to invite you to explore our diverse educational offerings, our vibrant research culture and keep up to date with news and events from around the School.
The School comprises of a number of programs and centres. These include Ancient Cultures, Bioethics, History, Human Rights, International Studies, the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation, the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Philosophy, and the Centre for Religious Studies.
We are committed to excellence in three main areas: education, research and engagement.
We teach courses across all Monash campuses and online, and we pride ourselves on achieving some of the best student evaluations of our teaching in the University. As a large School, we are able to offer a wide range of units in different areas of study for undergraduates, as well as expert and supportive supervision at postgraduate level.
Our research culture is world-class, recognised nationally and internationally through our outstanding academics, success in attracting research fellowships, awards, prizes and grants, and our high quality publications. In the most recent round of the Australian Research Council’s Excellence in Research audit, all of our disciplinary research areas were ranked as above world-standard or well above world-standard.
We are also committed to engagement and outreach activities, including VCE and secondary school engagement, alumni network building, and community and public engagement. A range of public lectures, workshops, symposia and other events can be found in our engagement link.
As Head of the School of Philosophical, Historical and International Studies, I encourage you to explore our website and am very proud to welcome you to our School.
